Deyan Vukic

Applied AI / AI Integration Engineer: GenAI, LLMOps, AI Evaluation

Grand Est, France

I got interested in development very early, back in middle school, through JavaScript and SQL. What hooked me was being able to change what already existed and build my own ideas.

I didn't turn it into a career right away. After several years in the French Air Force and then in quality control, I decided in 2023 to go back to development. That return took shape through Web & Mobile training at CCI Metz, completed in April 2024, then a web developer internship, before Epitech.

Since then, I've mostly widened the field: web, software, systems, DevOps, machine learning, and now AI & Big Data. As a work-study engineer, I digitize business processes used by more than 200 employees: requirement gathering, mockups, development, integration, and user training. What hasn't changed is what interests me the most: starting from a need or an idea and ending up with something that actually works.

Applied AI fits naturally into that: it shortens the path between an idea and a solution, lets me move faster through heavy workloads, and makes it possible, alone or in a small team, to build prototypes that used to require several specialized profiles.

Trajectory

  1. Middle school

    Discovering code

JavaScript and SQL were my first tools. What I liked right away was being able to modify what already existed and build my own ideas, not just use things as they were handed to me.

  2. September 2016 - September 2020

    The French Air Force

Several years as a commando fusilier, with occasional post-commander duties. Development stayed on the shelf, but the discipline and sense of responsibility from that period stuck with me.

  3. January 2022 - April 2023

    Quality controller at Viessmann

Checking finished products for compliance before shipping. Methodical work, far from code, that ended up confirming I wanted to go back to what I actually enjoyed.

  4. 2023 - 2024

    Back to development

In 2023, I decided to go back to development. That return took shape through Web & Mobile training at CCI Metz, completed in April 2024, then a web developer internship at La Signora Sakura: scoping, Figma mockups, front and back-end development, and launching a full e-commerce site.

  5. 2024 - 2027

    Epitech

The MSc at Epitech widened the field: software, systems, DevOps, security, machine learning. An AI & Big Data specialization was added in 2025.

  6. Since 2025

    BASF Beauty Care Solution

As a work-study engineer, I digitize business processes used by more than 200 employees: requirement gathering, mockups, development, integration, and user training.

Way of working

  • I start by understanding the need and the expected use before picking the technical solution.
  • I like going from framing to a usable product: mockup, development, testing, feedback, and delivery.
  • I prefer moving in short steps, showing something concrete early, and improving it based on feedback.
  • On a team project, I can coordinate as well as contribute code directly: what matters most to me is the final result and how it gets used.
